23.11.17

Despite receiving a petition with almost 1000 signatures (gathered in-store and online in just over 1 day) and a letter from Caroline Lucas our landlord is still determined to erect scaffolding across the front of our shop tomorrow which will remain during the run up to Christmas.

We are under threat please HELP!

18.11.17

We opened our doors to our first permanent shop in Brighton only 4 months ago. We have had a fantastic response from customers who have visited our shop but we are still very new and need lots more people to know about us. We received an email from our managing agents on Thursday evening (after the sender had left for holiday and posted an out of office) notifying us that scaffolding would be erected across the front of our shop next weekend (on a Saturday!) and would remain for the entire Christmas shopping season. The works they are doing on the roof of the flats above us aren't emergency works and have been known about for a very long time (they were mentioned in our survey in March - 9 months ago).

18.11.17

Next Friday is BLACK FRIDAY. We are not fans. So we are saying NO! to BLACK FRIDAY and YES! to BOWIE FRIDAY. We're going to honour David's legacy in a positive way so next Friday we will be donating 10% of everything Bowie (records, clothing and home stuff) to the awesome MacMillan Cancer Support charity.

Why buying a cheap All-In-One Record Player is a really bad idea

17.11.17

When we opened Vinyl Revolution we had a decision to make. Were we going to jump on the bandwagon and make a quick buck from selling lots of cheap, cute all-in-one record players or were we going to do the right thing and look after our customers by telling them hard truth that many of them didn't want to hear? The hard truth that CHEAP ALL-IN-ONE TURNTABLES SOUND TERRIBLE AND DAMAGE YOUR VINYL.

ALL YOUNG PEOPLE WANT IS TO LISTEN TO GREAT MUSIC!

09.11.17

Vinyl Revolution turned 1 year old this week. During the past 12 months we’ve talked music with customers in Kent and Sussex and visitors from all over the World. What is very clear to us is that, irrespective of age or birthplace, everyone visiting our shop wants to listen to great music. When that music was made, the genre that music is labelled with and whether or not the artist/band making that music is regarded as cool or fashionable is not of any real interest.

Simon Plays His Top 20 on SeahavenFM (and they play a few tracks of his own music too!)

08.11.17

Last Thursday Simon was Roy Stannard's guest on his radio show 'The Whole 9 Yards'. It was a Simon Parker/Vinyl Revolution special show and Simon was given a full 2 hours to play his all-time Top 20 record tracks. Roy had done his own research and dug out a few tracks of Simon's own music from his bands Lighting Dept and Villareal. It was a great two hours of indie classics and a little bit of chat about Simon's own music career and what his chosen tracks mean to him. If you would like to listen to a recording of the show then simply click on the links below:

Sainsbury's to launch their own record label

02.11.17

We've always been outspoken in our belief that records don't belong in Supermarkets - who wants to buy their vinyl alongside their potatos and washing up liquid? Where is the fun in that? Potatos aside, the threat that supermarkets pose for independent record shops is not to be underestimated.
