Colour is the new Black

03.10.17

When you think of vinyl records the colour that will spring to mind is black - but now more than ever new releases are being pressed on coloured vinyl, injecting a whole spectrum of colours into our record collections. In fact, a hefty proportion of the new and repressed vinyl we sell in store is not black as artists opt for a burst of colour in often limited and collectable pressings. Recent releases include The National on transparent blue vinyl, Beyoncé on yellow vinyl, The Killers on pink vinyl and the Twin Peaks Sound Track on red and green vinyl. Spatter vinyl has also become a newer (rather beautiful) introduction as seen by artists like Frank Turner.

Simon to play his all time TOP 20 on SeahavenFM this Thursday

02.10.17

It's not often that you get invited to spend 2 hours radio time playing (and discussing) your all-time TOP 20 record tracks. This exactly the offer that Roy Stannard of Seahaven FM made to Simon who is the featured guest on Roy's 'The Whole 9 Yards Show' this Thursday 2nd November. This is part of Roy's announcement about Simon guesting on his show "My guest on The Whole Nine Yards this Thursday is as close to a twin in musical taste as I have ever come across. You know that feeling when a friend recommends a new artist or album and you know it's going to be good? The first guy I've ever met who also owns the Trashcan Sinatras catalogue and shares my fascination with the Estuary rock scene of the 70s and 80s and idolises Talk Talk. Simon Parker is a musician, promoter, record label boss and vinyl record store owner. He has also written a book about what it's like NOT to make it big in the music business called 'Road To Nowhere'"

Steve Marriott - Give Her My Regards (7")

06.08.17

This was quite a find. Nestling in amongst some interesting but widely-available 7 inches I had recently acquired, lurked a pre-Small Faces Steve Marriott single. And not just a regular press but a sample record which would have been sent to radio stations back in 1963, heralding the release of the first single by a cheeky boy wonder. Housed in a Decca company sleeve and in EX- condition I knew this was a rarity. Got to have it!

We've got Hi-Fi!

04.08.17

We've read the statistics about people buying vinyl records to hang on their walls and look pretty. But we don't recognise these people. Vinyl Revolution customers are music lovers who buy records to play them! Vinyl records have never been cheap throwaways, when you buy a record you invest in a piece of music history which sounds great, looks great, and if looked after properly, will last you a lifetime. We've always been outspoken in our dislike of cheap all-in-one record players. They not only sound terrible and slow down when playing 180 gram records (which most new records are pressed on) but the really bad ones will damage your records too. For this reason we have chosen to sell a range of record players (turntables, amps and speakers) which sound fantastic, treat your records with respect and will last you for many many years. They aren't cheap (what quality product is?) but we hope that most our customers will find them not only affordable but great value for mone
